Last week, I was called by a prospect to view a home that has been sitting vacant for a while. One of the challenges I was faced with was to create a solution for the kitchen.
Here are the "before" pictures:
The challenge: The space was too small for an island as it would have consumed a great deal of the kitchen. The wall pictured above - well, it too was too small to accommodate a bistro set.
The solution:
Coffee for two in this newly created space!
The stand is something I had purchased to use in the living room. However, all attempts to find a shelf, which would have worked equally as well, failed. It's one of those weeks where when you need a particular item, the item can't be found anyway. And when you don't need an item, you'll likely see hundreds of them.
As it turned out, this solution worked extremely well and the owner was completely thrilled with the results.

Kathy - I feel like I could sit down and have a latte and a chat right there! Well done:)
Stephanie
Christina - Thanks! I could have easily just placed a print/art of some kind. But... this definitely shows the prospective buyers how to use the space.
Nalliah - You bet!
Stephanie - Thanks as that was precisely the look I was after!
Cheryl-Anne Thank you!!!
And to our one and only, Jackson West - Thanks for the link love! I'm heading back over to your post to leave a response!
Kathy
Kathy,
Absolutely amazing! Love how you made it work and the furniture even packs some much needed 'wow' factor!
VAL
Thanks, Kimberly. I love sharing examples of my work.
Val - Thank you! That side of the kitchen did need a 'wow' factor. I was so pleased that it came out so well given the fact that I couldn't find a shelf in all of Atlanta.
Thanks, Karen. I got the stools at Ross. They were on sale too for $27/ea.
Kathy
They were a great price! I'm going to purchase the tall ones as well as they're easy to pack and store.
Kathy
Kathy,
What a great, creative alternative to an island. $27 for the stools is fantastic. Is the framed item a chalkboard? Love it!
Thanks, Betty for your kind words!
Ginger - Thanks. And yes; it's a framed chalkboard. It was a Marshall's purchase made last year. I was half tempted to write "Coffee for Two" but... it seemed a bit obvious with the coffee cups.
Kathy
Hi Kathy, you did a great job at being creative. Looks great.
Lynette
Hi Kathy, thanks for your creativity! Ideas like these are helpful. You are right! My moto is now- buy it now when you see something you know you will want in the future!
Kathy
Jennie - You're right, it's hit or miss at Ross.
Lynette - Thanks!!
Kathy D - You're welcome and thanks! I definitely need to start snagging things when I see them.
Kathy
It's called thinking out of the box and your solution probably worked and gave more of a WOW factor than the shelf would have if you found one. Great job!!
Phyllis Pafumi
What an excellent solution to that really small space! You are marvelous, Kathy. Always great work.
