This very long and narrow space turned out to be fun home staging project. The home, located in Atlanta, Georgia and home staged by Georgia Interior Solutions came out wonderful.
Here is a before picture:
Here is what the room looked like after being home staged. (Note: The homeowner is adding an electrical outlet for the lamp pictured on the right).
Here's another angle of the living room prior to being staged:

And because I love taking photos of the homes we stage, here are a few others of this beautiful home:
As a home stager in Atlanta, I had two primary objectives when staging this home.
- Showcase the features of the home. In this case, the two archways needed to really stand-out. While I could have easily placed the sofa in the middle of the room (with the back of the sofa facing the dining room table), it would have cut the room in half visually. With this arrangement, the buyers eyes now flow smoothly from one room to the next.
- Provide the prospective buyers with solutions on how to utilize the space. Let's face it, long narrow living rooms can pose a challenge. If left vacant, we leave the buyers "guessing." Thru home staging (or house staging as it is often called), we provide the visual solution for the buyer.

You truly met both your objectives....it looks smashing!!! And I love those dark wood floors and how you brought them out with your staging!!
Well done.
Kathy: I always LOVE to see pictures of your work. I'm glad the homeowner is adding an outlet for the lamp.
Absolutely gorgeous Kathy! You took a bland space and made it sensational. Great to finally meet you at RESA!
excellent, my dear, as always. Long and narrow is right -- Now you see this is a perfect example of the benefits of home staging. How could the average buyerpossibly look at vacant photos of this property and visualize it working for them? You made it happen, girlfriend!
You are so right about long and narrow rooms being a challenge to potential buyers. Your furniture selection and placement leaves no question in the buyer's mind. Excellent work Kathy!
FABULOUS!!!!
Kathy: I love the way you capitalized on the architectual details with just the right pieces of furniture - the rooms just flow! This is a perfect example of WHY staging works so well when clients choose a professional, talented stager such as yourself.
Thank you, Kathy B. The floors are another great feature of this home. In fact, it's one of the reasons why I didn't use an area rug in the DR.
Dean - thanks for commenting.
Michelle - I'm glad he's adding an outlet too (smile).
Annie - it was such a treat to meet you (finally). Thanks for your kind words regarding this staging.
Hey, Karen! Thanks for commenting.
Michele - long and narrow can be SO hard for the buyers. The homeowner loved how we made this look.
Thanks, Donna.
Kathy
Debra - Thank you!
Nicely done! The colors are fabulous! I really like the use of the bench as a coffee table.
Kathy ~ Excellent space planning for this long narrow space, which buyers for sure would have found confusing otherwise. Your staging has removed any objections about what will fit where -- and the home is move-in ready. Lovely photos as usual!!
Wow! Those before and after photos are impressive! Nice Job
Beautiful photos and staging. You've really helped potential buyers understand how they can live in this space.
Kathy, the way you artfully staged this property it doesn't appear to be long and narrow just gorgeous. Love your tall urn too!
Kathy - From bowling alley to fabulous. Love the way you highlighted the arches. Beautiful staging job and as always, beautiful pictures!
Great job Kathy. I especially like the way your furniture arrangement opens up an awkward entryway. These type of entry's often make you feel like you've skipped a room but your design directs the viewer immediately towards the home's best features. It feels spacious enough that if several people arrived at the same time, they wouldn't feel boxed in. Many would have used a couch or chair to separate the living room from the actual doorway but the results would have been disastrous from a sales standpoint. As another "Rainer" alluded to, it really helps prospective buyers understand how such spaces can work.
Great staging work, as always. Congratualtions!
Kathy, You did a fabulous job. This is a first class home and a first class staging job....Congratulations to you!
Lovely work and lovely photography Kathy! It came out beautifully!
Now thats's a long undefined room. No doubt buyers will love it now. I had an older home that had one outlet in the LR and no overhead lighting. Can't imagine living with one outlet in the family room!
Gorgeous an stunning photos too! Love the red poppies! :)
Your staging is PERFECT!! I love the clean simple lines...truely stunning...it won't last long!!!
Beautiful Kathy! I too like the pop of red from your poppies as well as that plant in the living room...I've been meaning to tell you -Nice new photo of you too!

Hi Kathy...I found your post in another group and commented on the lovely work you do and then I just discovered this group today...I am learning everday here on AR...Thanks!
Kathy -- Amazing work, as always! You really managed to compliment the wonderful architectural features of this home as well as showing how a long, open space can be utilized in a way that really makes sense.
Looks super Kathy!! Excellent photography!!
Wow! I recognized that great planter with the fern. Love it! I am always curious to find out if people are renting their furniture or if it's their own inventory. Nice stuff. I have been building up my own inventory so that I can make some money... eventually.
Kathy your work is excellent . . . thanks for sharing!
Kathy, awesome work! Love it!
A picture is worth a thousand words! It speaks for itself of a job, impressively, well done! Congratulations Kathy!
