Is Your Home Capturing the Buyers Off the Internet?
In the case of this home (see before picture below), we have a completely vanilla kitchen (minus my bin of accessories, of course). The cabinets are white. The appliances are white and we have a light-color countertop. If left empty, it's likely the buyers, when searching the Internet, would likely find nothing appealing about this kitchen.
If you're selling your home, your objective should be to make the "short list." The short list is comprised of the homes they've viewed off the Internet that are "worthy" of seeing first-hand.
Once a buyer settles on a location, price and size of the home (for example, quantity of bedrooms), they will next look for those that are most appealing. Herein lies the greatest opportunity for a seller. If your home is vacant, dress it up. Trust me. As a professional home stager in Atlanta, I've had the good fortune in having helped hundreds throughout metro Atlanta to help sell their home quickly.
Here's an example of a home we staged last week in Roswell, Georgia:

Here's how the home now looks on the Internet:

Staging your home, whether your hire a professional or do it yourself, will absolutely make a difference as it relates to capturing the buyers off the Internet.

The difference is huge. Great job!
Kathy - Home staging definitely does help the seller to make a buyer's "short list" - great point. The above kitchen is a great example of why you would want to add a shot of colour into an otherwise non-descript kitchen.
Hi Kathy, looks very nice, from blah to yah!
Kathy, I couldn't agree more. A Realtor sent me some pictures of a home he was having trouble with ... they should have never hit the internet. It was no wonder the house was attracting the wrong kind of attention.
Kathy- Clean... YES! Uncluttered.... YES! Spacious.... YES! Wow factor...NO! Sometimes a home can go the other way and be too uncluttered and bland. Your staging added the oomph it needed!!
It's amazing how much warmer this kitchen looks in the second picture with just a few accessories and better lighting! No one could deny that these two photos would produce completely different responses from online shoppers!
we just can't preach enough the value home staging brings to the Internet presence and "Short List"
"Pick me, love me, choose me"
It all starts on the Internet! great staging, as always, Kathy.
Kathy,
Fantastic Staging...you made a real difference with the color you added to the all white kitchen. I love the saying: "The short list". Well staged homes with fantasic photos really stand out and become that irresistible product that buyers can't wait to make an offer on.
When selling, that white kitchen can appeal to a large segment of the market, yet online shoppers see that kitchen over and over again in their searches--next! You gave them a reason to stop for a look at this one.
With so many choices, that's what it takes to make it onto the "short list."
Thanks Kathy!
Kathy -- the all-white kitchen says to buyers looking online ... "I'm boring, a little dated, and just like a lot of other unexciting homes around here."
However, after your professional staging, the kitchen says "Come take a look, you'll love entertaining your family and friends in this great home."
Mission accomplished!!
Great job in staging the kitchen, it brings life and warmth to a boring washed out area.
Fabulous! You added warmth and appeal and now the photo refuses to be ignored!
Good point - too many times we rush to get pictures up and sometimes they don't do the listing justice.
Kathy, kitchen looks warm and inviting. If I would be a buyer Iwould definitely put that house on my list.
