Home Staging with an Orange Sofa - Home Staging Atlanta Before and After Picture
When I posted the after picture last night on my Facebook page, I had one of our rainers, Cathy Lee, respond with "Orange ya glad you staged with it..." The answer is YES!
To assist the seller on the cost of staging, I try and use as many items that I can to help reduce the investment cost in home staging the property.
In the case of this home, I just knew I could use the sofa. Sure, the color was unique (and no, I've never staged a home with an orange sofa). However, the size was perfect for this room. And again, I knew it would be a way to save them money.

Here's what we did:
- We had the seller remove the TV. This home is semi-vacant. In other words, the sellers are not living in the home. However, they had a few items within the home to add some warmth. The TV, as you can see, was just too large.
- Initially, we thought the plant (which is artificial) would be perfect. Try as we may, it was taking up too much real estate within the home. So... off to the porch it went.
- To compliment the orange sofa, we added brown and orange accent pieces.

Staging really makes a difference. Good job, good post!
Kathy, it is a dramatic difference. Very nicely done.
As usual Kathy there is no comparison between the before and after photos!
Kathy - Great job with taking an unusual piece of furniture and making both it and the room appealing.
Kathy - what a gorgeous transformation. I love the arrangement on the coffee table. Did you make it yourself? I have the same footed piece and use it for candles but never thought to use it for an arrangement.
Great job. This is what makes home stagers experts at what they do. We have the ability to make use of what the client has to work with even if it is challenging in terms of colours, sizes, etc. and still turn out a beautiful end product.
Oh, great, Kathy! Now EVERYONE will want an orange sofa!!! Love the coppery tones; great for this time of year, too! Julie
Amazing how someone....not anyone or everyone....can make a BIG positive out of what most would have seen as a negative!! It looks SMASHING!!! It now looks inviting as well as stylish!
You made this room look amazing!! I love your choice of accessories, very electric!!
Thanks, everyone! It was a pleasure staging. I looked at the sofa as "pure" opportunity.
FYI - the homeowner loved how it came out as well.
Thanks again!
Kathy
Rusty Orange is actually in again so that's a good thing. Would I want it in accessories and throw pillows, yup. Would I want it in a sofa, nope. But you definitely made it work. Looks fabulous!
Kathy - The sofa and the room looks really great. It was almost like the sofa was meant to be there now. As Julie mentioned, this is a great colour for the fall, and I love the way you toned it down and neutralized the colour with the brown. I love Cathy's quote, by the way!
Looks great. Orange is big this year, so that helps! Your accents went beautifully.
Oh, Yummy! Orange and chocolate are the perfect pairing in this house. It looks SO much more upscale now!!
Oooo, I really like this! What a great punch of Fall color as you walk into the room. Very tasty.
Proof that you can make magic happen with any color couch Kathy!
Good thing the couch had good lines, too! It looks great!
I went to Sherwin Williams color mix class Wed and this color is really hot for 2011. You are so ahead of the trends Kathy!!
When I read "orange sofa", I was a little worried what I would see. But, you pulled it off! It actually looks pretty good. Now if you can do the same thing for my 'wood paneled walls' listing....
Kathy - I liked your comments at the end of the pictures to tell us what your thinking was as you went along. It is much more interesting to the post to add this information. Like a lesson in staging.
Kathy: You really tied it all together using the orange sofa. You accessorized perfectly (I love that flower arrangement)!
Kathy, well done as always! A very inviting look that should inspire a buyer. The mirror is great.
When you said orange, my mind went to the citrus fruit. Nothing fruity about your staging!

When I read the title of your post I thought "Yikes Orange!" But you pulled it off perfectly! Everything flows together so well! Perfect for the Fall Season!
HI Kathy, I love orange so I couldn't wait to see what magic you had done. I wasn't disappointed. Love the transformation. It says come right in and sit down, very warm and inviting.
Thanks, everyone. When I first viewed the photos that were online for this home, I was like "yikes." that's not showing well. Given how important those photos are in getting buyers to view the home first-hand, I knew he "needed me" (smile). So... after having sent the proposal, I was super pleased that I was given the opportunity to help.
Thanks again, for your kind words, everyone. They mean a lot.
Kathy
I can only echo what others have said... all of the furnishings and accessories you chose are excellent compliments to the existing sofa! What a great little design lesson you've given us! Thanks for sharing, Kathy.
I love what you did with it and I love the textural elements. Sometimes I love working with existing pieces and updating them.
Kathy that is just awesome, the colors in the accessories are what makes this whole room. the couch now makes the room...makes me want an orange couch...after all I do live in BIG ORANGE Tennessee country...
Love it, the colors are now beautiful. The room is warm and inviting.
Hi Kathy - great job on the transformation with the room, and making it work. Love the accessories, it makes a huge difference.
Kathy this worked out perfectly. Your accessories are a great example of how to turn a "miss" into a hit! Timing is perfect too and this is a great autumn palette!
Kathy did you ever deal with an orange sofa looks awesome
Beautiful. Thank God for accessories, they always make all the difference in the world. Thanks for sharing.
Only you Kathy could take an orange couch and make me love it - orange is my least favorite color, but this looks beautiful - the accessories pull it all together and I love that vase!
Awesome! And I am not an orange kinda girl! Love the way you made it look and feel!
Thank you! You guys are incredible sweet to say such kind things! I loved the challenge and was so pleased with how it turned out.
Kathy
Orange is one of our favorite accent colors and you made the room feel so much like fall. It's no wonder it sold so quickly!
