As a professional home stager in Atlanta, I'm constantly on the look-out for floral arrangements. And... with fall fast approaching, I'm specifically looking for those that are rich, with warm colors.
Over the weekend, I went shopping with my sissy to find arrangements to add to my inventory. As most know, there are tons of choices from which to select. However, I wasn't too pleased with the pricing (despite the store I went to). So... what's a stager to do? Make their own. And YOU can too.
This arrangement cost less than $18.00 in total and can even be done for less than that.
Here's the arrangement:
This looks far better in person but... at least it gives you an idea of what it looks like.
Here are the directions:
Purchases:
Candle stick holder (this one cost $7.00 but... I'm sure you can find them for much less); two bunches of florals (the two bunches combined were approx. $8.00. Michaels and Hobby Lobby both will often times put these on sale for 50% off), green foam, spanish moss; dry twigs (the curly kind).
Directions: And this is so simple and took less than 15 minutes to do.
Cut green foam to 1 1/2 inch depth and just large enough to cover base of candle stick holder. With your glue gun, cover bottom of foam and press firmly on top of candle stick (where the candle would go). Let dry.
Take the two bunches of florals and using a wire cutter, cut each individual stem.
Now the fun part, start placing the individual stems into the green foam. I started in the center and worked my way around. Now use 3 or 4 dry twigs cut to the appropriate size throughout the arrangement. Last but not least, use the spanish moss to cover the foam areas that might be exposed.
My sister made one as well and let me tell you, it's absolutely beautiful!
If anyone needs any further assistance, please feel free to contact me.

Roberta - That's what I should have made the title of this blog to read. Too funny.
Kathy
OMG...you make me want to run to Michael's right now! That is beautiful, and I love that it's a little bit different than what people might expect! I've got some candle holders in my inventory now that I can see doing this with. Thanks for the inspiration! (And thank your sis too!).
Susan
Beautiful arrangement! I'm sending the directions to my daughter, while I'm not particularly handy at this kind of thing, she loves it....we were just at Michaels yesterday for this very thing! Thanks!
Thanks everyone for your kind words. It's so simple to make and they look absolutely stunning when completed. Again, you can make them for far less than the $18.00 I spent. I just made a small one and the total on that one came to $6.00. I'll post a picture of it a little later as I have to scoot for an appointment.
Kathy
Hi Kathy!
Thanks for sharing : ) I did something similar, and used it in a vacant home master bath...someone else must have liked it so much that they stole it!!!
Good thing it was not expensive to make!
I'll see if I saved a photo of mine (probably not-I am terrible of getting photos).
Susan
Susan - I can't believe someone stole it. I'd love to see a picture of it. Perhaps you can make another one.
Marci - I knew that (smile).
Anthea - Thank you! My next one is going to be far less money. I just need to make the time, again, to do another one.
Kathy
Great idea. It looks very classic and will appeal to most anyone!
I would not have thought of it, but I will use it!

Connie - The look is very classic. And to boot, we take a tired looking candle stick holder and turn it into something far more useful.
Leslie - I KNOW you can do it. Go out tomorrow and get all the supplies and give it a whirl. You're going to be amazed.

Beautiful and simple. I'm decorating for a holiday home tour in my area, and think your idea would look stunning as a centre piece for my table. Thanks for sharing

That looks great. Making your own floral arrangement is definitely a great solution to store-bought ones. And certainly it's one of a kind!
Cheers,
Cindy
Betty - Thank you. You'll have to post an "after" picture of your arrangement.
Cindy - That's what I love about it. It's going to be a one-of-a-kind arrangement, that's for sure.
Sheryl - It would make a beautiful arrangement at Christmas time (with the right florals). Again, it's easy to do!
Judy - I like to come up with new and different things. As I may have said before, I took a very tired-looking candle stick and put it to good use. Now what to do with all those candles?? Just kidding.
Yvonne - Are you going to make one?
Kathy
Sounds like a great plan, Tanya. Have her make some for me too as I can never have enough!
Kathy
Kathy I'm keeping this one! I love to try new crafty things, I'll be looking at those odd candle stick holders in a whole new way!

I just spent hours on the loose floral isles buying flowers. Now I have a great idea and inspiration for how to use them! Great post!

Kathy, my tired candle sticks need this transformation. Thanks for the post, the photo and instructions. By the way...how does everyone store this type of item? Bulky and fragile.
Wow this is beautiful! I want to make one! Those are my colors too! You are so talented!

Kathy - this is a brilliant idea. I like to make my own floral arrangements as they can be quite expensive to buy - I am definitely going to try this one. Thanks for the detailed instructions.
Stephanie
It really is beautiful and I love the colors. As always you did a fabulous job. This sounds easy enough you just have to find all the right pieces. Thanks for the info
Phyllis Pafumi
Kathy & Tanya.....Im getting lazy with my arrangements! How is it that the 2 of you are going to put me to work?
Is that right? or FAIR?????

OK, OK, OK....here I am.
That is so pretty Kathy! Aren't you just so talented!!!!! =) Sorry it took me so long to get here. I've been outta the rain for some time now!
Thanks everyone for your kind words.
Marci - Yes, it's RIGHT and FAIR! How many have you made me and when will they be shipped?
