Home Staging - Can You Spot the Differences?

There are 5 very distinct differences in the two pictures listed below.  Can you spot them?

Here's picture #1:

Home Staging Atlanta.com Before Picture

Now... here's picture #2

Home Staging Atlanta.com After Picture

Let's see if you got them right:

  • Wallpaper and border have been removed
  • Walls have been painted
  • Updated furniture has been brought in
  • Light fixture has been updated

Can you spot the 5th one?  It's hard to see but sometimes even the "little" changes can make a difference.  Check out the light switch cover in the dining room.  The gold outdated plate has been switched out to a pure white plate to match the trim.

As a homeowner, these are the types of changes that truly help separate your home from the others on the market.

Atlanta's Premier Home Staging Company,  Georgia Interior Solutions, LLC, takes great pride in helping homeowners, builders and investors with figuring out exactly what type of changes would have the most impact.  Our experience and expertise in home staging can help separate your home or listing.   Visit our web site for more examples of our work at HomeStagingAtlanta.com.

It looks great.  You do a fantastic job.

Although I liked the difference in the rooms-the second is staged nicely, I like how you wrote your blog to get the reader engaged.

The pictures on the wall and the living room aren't listed in your list.  The first thing I noticed when looking at the picture was the window in the living room and, what looks like fake shutters, were removed, and the window looks larger.

The changes are simple but add elegance.  I noticed you also took down the pictures and added a mirror, nice touch.  I like the runner and flower combination on the table as well.

Great post!  A detailed home stager is key!  Nice job.

Looks great... did they move out and you have a vacant to work with?  I find most sellers are reluctant to move out their furnishings and rent new stuff while they're still living there.  How'd you convince them???

Thanks everyone for all your kind words.  FYI - I received a message from the realtor yesterday afternoon and he simply can't believe the changes.

And for those that listed the other changes... You too are right.  The absence of the art further enhances the space; the simply floral arrangement with runner provide more of an elegant look.

Thanks again everyone!

Judy - The owner intends to stay thru to the end of November (assuming it hasn't sold before then).  Also, the owner wasn't emotionally attached to any of the furniture and understood that bringing updated pieces in would help.

Changing the lighting makes such a big difference.
Posted by Maureen Maureen over 4 years ago

What about:

6) GREEN - Adding some green to what appears to be a lifeless before pictures
7) FURNITURE PLACEMENT - Moving furniture away from windows to allow maximum flow of light
8) ACCENT PIECES - Putting those extra special touches in the room (i.ei. throw pillows, mirror to help brightne a dark room, flowers for color on the DR table).

By the way, you kind of have that seductive pose thing going on with your AR headshot. Don't take that wrong!!! I don't mean that in a bad way.  I'm trying to think of who you look like for my next Look a Like blog :)

Kathy - 5 things - the chairs in the dining room.  I see five in the first photo and four totally different chairs in the second.  Do I win a prize?  Lovely transformation.  Maybe I should take a vacation to Georgia and have you "mentor" me.

Come on down, Cheryl-Anne!

Beth - You're right, all those items, greenery, furniture placement, accent pieces are all changes that made a big impact as well.  Can't wait to see you who you come up with (in terms of who I look like).

Thanks, Keith & Robin.

Maureen - You're right, the light fixture made a huge change!

Why Beth Darling, she looks just like me, heehee, I'm her identical twin Sister, (known to most as "Sissy").  Great job on the transformation Sis, as always you do such wonderful work.  I'm so very proud of you!!  Now, why haven't you switched out my silver light switch in my kitchen? (teasing).

Posted by Kerry Sue over 4 years ago

Sissy!  How sweet of you to comment.  I'll get right on that silver light switch of yours over the weekend!

Great job... looks like a new house!  Add to the list, removed power cord from table and recovered the dining room chairs with new fabric!

Very nice work - I had lunch with a stager today and was very impressed with her work as well.
Posted by Simon Conway (Orlando Area Real Estate Services) over 4 years ago

Thanks, Patty.  I too thought it looked like a new house.  FYI - the furniture is new.  We removed the antique table and chairs and brought in a more updated set.  Given the base of prospective buyers, that was a strategic move.

Kathy R - Thanks!  No, I'm not a former teacher.   I just thought it would be fun to post the before/afters

Thanks, Simon.  A "good" stager can truly make a difference in the homes on the market.  Thanks for commenting.

Kathy, You did a beautiful job!  I wish more of my clients would make use of a staging professional.  I sometimes even pay for the initial consultation, but it never goes beyond that.
