There are 5 very distinct differences in the two pictures listed below. Can you spot them?
Here's picture #1:
Now... here's picture #2
Let's see if you got them right:
- Wallpaper and border have been removed
- Walls have been painted
- Updated furniture has been brought in
- Light fixture has been updated
Can you spot the 5th one? It's hard to see but sometimes even the "little" changes can make a difference. Check out the light switch cover in the dining room. The gold outdated plate has been switched out to a pure white plate to match the trim.

The changes are simple but add elegance. I noticed you also took down the pictures and added a mirror, nice touch. I like the runner and flower combination on the table as well.
Kathy - I LOVE puzzles (I must I'm a stager, right?...don't we ALL?) Do you want me to list all 5?
Jackie
Thanks everyone for all your kind words. FYI - I received a message from the realtor yesterday afternoon and he simply can't believe the changes.
And for those that listed the other changes... You too are right. The absence of the art further enhances the space; the simply floral arrangement with runner provide more of an elegant look.
Thanks again everyone!
Kathy
Judy - The owner intends to stay thru to the end of November (assuming it hasn't sold before then). Also, the owner wasn't emotionally attached to any of the furniture and understood that bringing updated pieces in would help.
Kathy
What about:
6) GREEN - Adding some green to what appears to be a lifeless before pictures
7) FURNITURE PLACEMENT - Moving furniture away from windows to allow maximum flow of light
8) ACCENT PIECES - Putting those extra special touches in the room (i.ei. throw pillows, mirror to help brightne a dark room, flowers for color on the DR table).
Come on down, Cheryl-Anne!
Beth - You're right, all those items, greenery, furniture placement, accent pieces are all changes that made a big impact as well. Can't wait to see you who you come up with (in terms of who I look like).
Thanks, Keith & Robin.
Maureen - You're right, the light fixture made a huge change!
Kathy
Why Beth Darling, she looks just like me, heehee, I'm her identical twin Sister, (known to most as "Sissy"). Great job on the transformation Sis, as always you do such wonderful work. I'm so very proud of you!! Now, why haven't you switched out my silver light switch in my kitchen? (teasing).
Sissy! How sweet of you to comment. I'll get right on that silver light switch of yours over the weekend!

Hi Kathy, I'm catchin up on all these missed blogs because I've been MIA from the Rain....Great pics. I can't believe the difference! You go, girl!
Great job... looks like a new house! Add to the list, removed power cord from table and recovered the dining room chairs with new fabric!
Kathy-
This was a fun post! Are you a former teacher? Great changes!
Thanks, Patty. I too thought it looked like a new house. FYI - the furniture is new. We removed the antique table and chairs and brought in a more updated set. Given the base of prospective buyers, that was a strategic move.
Kathy R - Thanks! No, I'm not a former teacher. I just thought it would be fun to post the before/afters
Thanks, Simon. A "good" stager can truly make a difference in the homes on the market. Thanks for commenting.
