The effects of staging can (if done correctly) be almost instantaneous. It begins when the client, whether it's the homeowner, the investor or the builder and their specific reaction to the staging when it's completed.
Yesterday, as I went to shake the hand of this builder, I instead got a hug. Truth be told, it warmed my heart. As most stagers can attest, we put a great deal of effort into each of our projects. It takes proper planning and coordinating to achieve the results we're looking for.
So, with all that said, here's the "before" picture:

kathy, you are one of my favorite stagers! Your work is phenomenal! This kitchen looks really rich!
Teresa, in the words of Bob Barker....COME ON DOWN!!
Hi Kathy,
I believe in the staging process, it really workd. Very good job.. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!
Charlie - Thank you! I staged the home yesterday and the grand opening of the subdivision is today!
Todd & Danielle - thank you for your kind words. I too can envision having coffee in that room.
Teresa - we'd love to have you!
Marci - You're so sweet. Thank you.
Danielle - How kind. The agent also toured the house and I overheard him say that "her attention to detail is absolutely amazing." Thank you!
Debbie - I try and post a lot. There's a group called Staging Before & After Pictures. I post most of my work there. Thank you for your kind words.
Anthony - Thank you!
Kathy, I have been admiring your work for nearly a year now and I must say that this is perhaps your best work yet. The after photo is so warm and inviting. Who wouldn't want to live in that space?! You are a true professional and it shows. I am proud to present you with the first ever raffia soap award which is nearly as prestigious yet more coveted than Maureen Henry's cookie award.
Your clients are lucky to have you. Not everybody has the knack for staging, but your talent shines.
Both your staging and your pictures are beautiful! I love your work! BIG HUG to you.
Not to be outdone by my northern friend. I'd like to present you with this cookie award:
Seriously, you rock!

Do you mind me asking what kind of budget the seller allowed? Also, how much of the rest of the property were you able to do with their budget?
Thanks again for sharing the fruits of your labor!
Susan
Kathy, what I love best about your staging is that the accessories 'warm up' this kitchen without competing for attention. Let's face it, this was a good kitchen, you made it FANATASTIC! Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

What an honor it is to have received the two most prestigious awards this industry has to offer! Thank you!!
These comments, just like the hug, have warmed my heart. Thanks to everyone for your very kind words.
Susan - I'll send you a separate email.
Thanks again!!
Kathy

Susan
Im awarding you the Diva award

Seriously, it came out really fabulous! And I mean that with all sincerity. You done good, sister!
Kathy, Simply beautiful as always. Pros like you make it look so effortless. Thanks for sharing.
And now the Diva award. I feel so very honored. Thank you!
As for the accessories - here are two close ups:
Container with greenery - Hobby Lobby - Approx. $14 x 2 as there is one behind the cookbook
Salt & Pepper - Ross - $6
Metal Print - Marshalls - $50
Cookbook/stand - $14 total
Lamp - $15 - Marshalls
Two Glass Cannisters $12
Tall greenery next to sink: Ross $15
Kitchen towels: Home Goods $7
Centerpiece: Michaels: $50
Two Glass Candle Holders: Ross: 12/ea (I think).
The next few items listed I don't have close ups of so you'll have to look at the "after" picture in the post:
Iron and wood rooster: Ross $7
Green wire basket - Kirklands $15 (I think). In summary, there are a variety of stores I shop at to buy my accessories. The challenge for all stagers, me included, is to ensure that the chosen accessories compliment the room; are scaled appropriately and the right amount is used. Too few and you have an unfinished look; too many and you're taking away from the room.
Hope that helps.
Thanks everyone for your kind words!
Kathy
WOW!
Kim Dillon, Creative Eye Home Staging
Thanks, Kim!
Michelle - Thank you. Coming from someone whom I admire a great deal means a lot to me. Thanks for your kind words.
Kathy
Kathy,
I am sold...great difference.....I am wavering using on my current listings. I have never before, and I am looking for an edge.
Is there anything in particular I need to look for in a Home Stager?
Kathy ~ Thanks so much for including the extra information and details about your accessories -- very helpful to us all!
Thanks, Denise.
Dan - Having it staged will definitely help give you the edge you're looking for. As for what to look for in a particular stager - review their portfolio. You'll get a good sense of whether or not the right scale items were used; accessories, etc...
Maureen - You're welcome.
Kathy
Hi Kathy-
This was a beautiful kitchen to start with, but you really warmed up those hard surfaces! I had not thought of adding salt & pepper shakers, but they really contrasted nicely to lighten up the brick & granite. Really makes the eye linger-love it & thanks so much for sharing in detail your inventory.
Kathy Jr.
Kathy,
What a great job! Thanks for sharing where you got your accessories & how small purchases placed together with the right touch can have such a BIG impact.
WOW,
It looks like a whole different kitchen, Great job! Its a wonder what smalls can do some time. thats why were carry many many different type of smalls to bring a POP to rooms that need that extra something.
again Great Job,
Regards,
Brian Bloom
Speaking of smalls, how does everyone store them? Do you have shelves in your garage, or do you have a storage area?
I picture shelves where it looks like a retail store -- "I'll take one of those, and two of those, and where did I put those other things?" ;}
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't get over the difference. That is amazing! You are a very talented.
Thanks everyone for your kind words!
As for where I store all the accessories - I have a storage unit. I actually need more shelves as I'm constantly adding to the collection.
Thanks again!
Kathy
Thanks everyone! I just heard from the agent and it sounds like the open house was a great success! I'll keep everyone posted.
