As in any market where there are stagers, there's a great opportunity for referrals. Here in Atlanta, I'm continuously meeting with homeowners who are either about to list; re-list (looking for a new agent); or who have had no success with FSBO. As a result, I'm in a great position to refer agents that I've worked with.
Here's a recent scenario. I had been corresponding with a homeowner regarding staging her condo; as we prepared to meet, I received the following email:
Since you've probably had some experience working with real estate agents, I would be interested to know if there's someone who you might recommend to us. We're particularly interested in someone who has dealt with selling condos before. Any help you could give us would be appreciated.
I had the perfect agent in mind and quickly responded with the name and number. The result: The agent got the listing and I had the good fortune of staging the condo:

Nice work Kathy!! You always have such great creativity! I especially liked the celery green plant in the light-coloured vase! I love it! And...I want it! : )
And YES! All realtors should know that we stagers are asked about recommendations from the homeowners. This is a question that must come up at least once a week and sometimes more. Great post Kathy!! Regards-Kathleen G
Kathy, I think staging and/or home stagers are a great asset to Realtors. Staging, sells a home faster than one that is not-as long as the home has been priced withing market value.
Kathy -
Great job, love the staging. I agree with you and doesn't it feel great to refer Realtors? I've had several homeowners call me direct and they weren't working with a Realtor so I was able to get them a listing. It's a win-win!
Kathy-
Looks great! I love the color combinations you chose! The furniture placement looks good, too!
Kathy:
It is amazing what a qualified stager can do! Great job.
Thanks, Kathleen. It makes perfect sense that homesellers would ask that question of us as they're right, we're constantly working with agents.
Frank - I've officially added home inspectors to the equation!
Connie - You're right, it's a win-win!
Marci - We're even then as I'm a big Marci-fan!
Elaine - it's a great neutral color. I have found that there are a variety of different colors that works well with this sofa. You'll have to post some "before" and "afters" so that we can see what you've come up with.
Thanks, Cindy!
Debbie - Thanks for your kind words. This condo has a great view of downtown so we leveraged that opportunity by placing patio furniture on the deck.
Kelly - It truly does feel wonderful to have passed this lead onto this agent!
Leah - thanks for the compliments. I too like the color combination. It was just the right amount of color needed for the room.
Renee - Thank You!
FYI - the centerpiece on the coffee table came from Pier 1. It was a purchase I made about 6 months ago so I'm not sure if they still have them or not.
Kathy
Hey Kathy, the photos came out great...everything turned out beautiful. Great job! =)
Thanks, Abby & Melissa. The primary colors worked out fabulous in this home.
Anna & Jim - Thank you!
Kathy
Beautiful work, Kathy. With the housing market more challenging, I am finding homeowners who want staging consultations as they contemplate putting their property up for sale. And yes, many do ask me if I have a Realtor recommendation!
Kathy
Very nice kathy, Looks like a new place.
So true Kathy. This just happened recently once again with me. I plan on blogging about it as well. We are often called by homeowners prior to them finding an agent and I keep on hand the cards of the agents I know and trust who are experts in the areas that the particular homeowner lives.
It once again shows that we want to be part of the team of reputable and professional players who work hard for the successful sale of the home.
Great testimony and the condo looks fabulous!
I have not had any FSBO as yet, or homeowners in the pre-list phase. All my work comes from agents - and now they are having me come do their own homes for interior design.
Howver, one agent who went on a listing presentation, referred my services to them, and they did hire me. These people were interviewing a few agents, but you would think they would favor the agent who had the insight as to the condition/presentation of their home.
I haven't heard they have hired yet, but have an appointment with them tomorrow to finish the staging. So I am going to ask. : )
Great ~ great job on the condo!!!
Tracy - I think he does love me. I've given him other leads (one for over a million, which we're still awaiting word). I've also staged 5 of his listings. I'm going to have to interview him. Wouldn't that make a great blog?
Thanks, Maureen. I too love the color combination.
Michelle - You're welcome!
Kathy R - Good luck with your consultations!
Thanks, Kimberely. The owners are thrilled with how it looks.
Karen - When I develop a great working relationship with my agents, I'll ask for a handful of cards so that I can have them on hand.
Susan - It's a great compliment when you're asked to do interior decorating for an agent. Congratulations. And... it will happen (sellers will ask for referrals), so... be prepared.
Kathy
Kathy,
Great work! Love the color. Just enough "pop"!
Networking is key. It defiantly works both ways! Realtor's need us...as much as we do them. Still waiting for Staging to catch on in my local market. Though, I am very busy outside of my city! Eventually, as all good things do... it will travel inward.
