As I set out to mentor a good friend of mine who has just entered into the business, I'm constantly reminding her that it's not about the quantity of pieces you bring into the home. With Staging - what matters most is that the right items are chosen and that you create balance in the space your staging.
Case in point.... Here's the "before" picture of a home I staged today.

Here's the same room after it was staged (and yes, I used a flash):

As you can see, there are a total of nine pieces brought into this kitchen. Here's the list: Bowl of green apples; lemon tree, 2 kitchen towels; a set of three canisters (they sit in a tray); cook book, two rosemary plants and a green plaque behind the burners. That's not a significant amount by any means. However, the difference in how the home appears to a buyer can be huge.
As any professional home stager will tell you, it's all about warming up the space such that it creates an inviting home; one they can envision living in.

Great Post, Thanks for the information. That's a lot to absorb. I'll keep it all top of mind. Keep up the great blogs.
Thanks, Yvonne. You are too sweet.
Kay - I think a lot of sellers must be of the belief that it takes so much to make a difference. In reality, it's just that they need the right pieces. Thanks for commenting!
Kathy
Thanks, Jerry!

Michael - You're right, the flash does make a difference! I should consider using a flash on my "before" pictures as well.
Todd & Danielle - My goal is to always use items that the new owner could visually see using. In other words, I don't try and make it too grand. I too like the plaque behind the burners. I had purchased two of them and have used them in several homes. Thanks for your post!

Hi Kathy, So true that details make all the difference. I think those green apples are becoming your "signature" in the kitchen! Love how that color photographs. We recently staged a kitchen (and the rest of a condo, too) that had been previously vignette staged by the agent. She had some really nice things, but it still seemed "flat". After we staged it, I realized that green plants are what makes the difference. We always use plants on counter tops.
Hi Kathy-
Your stagings are always so inviting. Thanks for sharing.

Diana - Your kitchen is beautiful! And I think you're right, green apples are becoming my signature. Too funny as I hadn't planned on that happening. Your plants on the countertop are perfect.
Shelley - All the props are artificial. I use artificial so that there's no concern with having to keep them watered.
David - Greenery really does make a difference!
Gary - Thank you for your very kind words!
Kathy R - I try my very best! Thank you!

Kathy - I love the lemon topiary!
