The scenario: The homeowner is transferring from Atlanta to San Francisco for a job transfer (lucky man).
When I first saw the home, the owner had received a recommendation from their agent to remove the wallpaper in the kitchen. Given how wallpaper can be a very personal decision, it made sense to remove it. Fortunately, the owner had a selection of paint colors from which to select.
Here's the picture of the home (with the wallpaper).

Here's a picture of how the kitchen looks with the wallpaper removed. The homeowner has also made the move to San Francisco. As you can see, we chose a nice neutral color (beyond white or cream).

Here's the kitchen "after" staging:

The homeowner decided to place the home on the market "after" staging to leverage the momentum gained with a new listing. We're all hoping for a quick sale!

Kathy: Glad to see the wallpaper go, and I love the lamp on the counter. I have to add some small lamps to my inventory for that purpose. And of course, your photography is always amazing.
Yup the advice of a good stager makes all the difference in making sure a home is ready to go.
Take care!

Michelle - I love using the lamps on the kitchen counter as it further warms the space. As for my photography - I keep practicing. (smile).
Thanks, Robert!

Thanks, Kym!
Powerful pictures, Kathy! Thanks for sharing. I think the 3-part transformation makes an even stronger statement than a before and after change!

Such a difference with the removal of the wallpaper and clutter. The paint choice makes the space feel warm and cheery and the staging looks great!
I have found that staging makes a lot of sense in vacant homes. In my 20+ yrs experience I have always found that houses with the most tasteful furniture and most decorating sense sell the quickest and at the highest prices. It seems most buyers can not get it that they are not getting the furniture and art work, etc. This year for the first time in my real estate experience I had a vacant home staged. It had a large 2 story family room that many could not visualize their furnings in it. Also the kitchen had a red rooster theme, which was cutesy, but not very Southwestern for Tucson. It cost $4,000 to stage this 2 story almost 3,000 square foot house for 6 months, and it sold in one month in a very slow market. I will use staging again!
Love the wall color change, removing the curtain, and adding your greenery and decor makes the update complete, even without a change in flooring or appliances! Did you use the paint color other places in the house, Kathy and can you share the color name? Thanks!
Kathy R
Thanks everyone for your very kind words. It means a lot to me.
Kathy R - I chose the paint off of paint cards the owner had. I based the selection on color and not by brand. All that said, I can send an email off to the owner and try and get the brand/color name.
Christopher - We have some wonderful stagers from Texas on Active Rain. If you do a search, I'm sure you can find someone.
