Imagine you're the homeowner and you've just found the home of your dreams. However, in order to make the purchase, you must first sell the home you're currently in. Not too hard to imagine, I'm sure.
Reality slips in when you realize that the home you currently live in, the starter home you purchased only 2 years early will now become the 3rd house in a row, on the market. And, your home has 1/2 less bath than the others and you're planning on asking more for yours.
True story! The homeowner recognized the challenge and faced it head on by calling a stager (me) to help get the home sold. Her first comment when I entered the home was; how many people do you know that place their couch in front of their fireplace? Here's precisely what she was referring to:

While I understood why she had placed it there, I also knew that it had to be rearranged to showcase the feature the living room had to offer. Here are the results:

Using the homeowners furniture and a few added accessories from my inventory, the living room went thru quite the transformation. The results: Home Sold in Exactly 3 Weeks!
Realtors and Homeowners - Stagers can make it happen. They understand how to create balance in a room, showcase the features the home has to offer, and create a flow that's pleasing to the eye. If the home is priced right from the onset, a stager can help you avoid a price reduction. Staging works!

Nice work! It definitely looks like a place I would love to curl up in front of the fire reading a good book.
Can you tell I'm married. I think most may have thought about have a romantic evening in front of the fire. LOL
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. The transformation was amazing. Here's a "before" and "after" pic of the kitchen:
And while I have no problem with the color green (in fact, it's one of my favorite colors), I knew that this shade of green would limit the number of prospective buyers as not everyone loves lime green. I had the homeowner paint it, I brought a few added accessories in and again, the transformation was made.
Bob - glad the before and after picture inspired you for your own home! You should take a before and after pic and let us see the change.
Judy - Yes, I'm currently using this in some of my print material. I'm also going to be adding it to my web site.
Thanks again, everyone for your kind comments.
Kathy,
You did an amazing job! Staging with what is already in the house is my favorite way to design the space to sell!
Congrats on a job well done!
This is an amazing transformation! Thanks for sharing
~Kimberly~
Thanks, everyone!
Tina - Funny thing you mentioning curling up with a good book in front of the fireplace. That's precisely what I was thinking as well when I had it completed.
Kathy,
Gorgeous transformation. You certainly made it happen!
I particularly like your use of greenery. I think you make the spaces look polished.
Thanks for sharing with us!

Letitia - Yes, that is a sectional. And yes, I rent the accessories on a monthly basis. I agree that many lack in the area of having accessories and as a result, will often bring in accessories for occupied homes.
Hope that helps.

Wow, home staging makes an impressive difference! Your "after" photograph is quality stuff too. I like how you left the ceiling out of the picture and grabbed the nice hardwood flooring. Great job.

Thank you Patricia, Penny and Sue.
Sue - I do my hardest to ensure the "after" pictures are of good quality. It simply benefits everyone when I can pass over great shots for the listing.
Thanks again.
Kathy, you definitely shot the after of the staged kitchen in good light! I love it.
Kathy,
Nice work! Great Before and After pics ;)

Good day,
Well Done, Very refreshing article,
Have an awesome day!
What a wonderful transformation! Great photos and wonderful example of how Staging Works!
It looks great, I never understand how people cover up fireplaces. The kitchen looks awesome.
Phyllis pafumi
Phyllis - I hear ya on covering on the fireplace. She did it to make more room in the living room for the kids to play.
Nana - nope, no tripod used. Like many others, I try and take as many pictures as I can in hopes to get a "great" shot.
Thanks for the comments. I had a very happy homeowner when she was able to sell it so quickly.
Kathy
And I thought I was the only one who snapped 100 pictures of the same shot and crossed my fingers!
Thanks, Jo. The homeowner was literally blown away by the transformation. Her home sold in 3 weeks after staging. I had one very happy client. FYI - she referred me to another homeowner (a peer that she works with). Thanks for your comment.
