As many home stagers can attest, there always seems to be a back story to the staging projects. And... as I organized my photos today, it was like a trip down memory lane.
While it's not uncommon to never meet the homeowner, in this case, I never even met the agent. And no, that's not the unique part of the story.
First here are a few pictures: (Note: The story follows the pictures)
Now here's the story:
The homeowner, having moved to Florida, had a difficult time getting his home to sell given that it was a) vacant (yes, vacant homes are more difficult to sell) and b) the challenges with the market. He also had a difficult time getting a particular agent to take the listing. In fact, prior to the staging, she viewed the home and had declined. As a result, the homeowner chose to go with a discount broker.
Months pass and without much activity, decides to contact the best staging company in Atlanta, Georgia Interior Solutions (yes, that's my company(smile)). With the proposal sent and the subsequent staging contract signed, we staged this little gem. A couple of weeks pass and my phone rings. Turns out the agent who had originally declined this listing had received the photos of how the house looked "after staging." Not only did she take the listing, she had it sold in a few short weeks! Her phone call was to thank me for having made such a wonderful transformation to the home. It's memories like this that remind me why I LOVE WHAT I DO!

Hi Kathy, That is a great story! Wonderful photos, too. Thanks for sharing them. It is funny, but we do seem to remember each job and the unique situations surrounding them. Happy New Year!
Kathy ~ Your red accents in this kitchen made it come alive! Congrats on such a great story!
Thanks for sharing your terrific story. No need to meet in person when you have this very kind memory. Love your staging as always-can we feature this?? :)
I know they are like a babies, nuturing them, and watching them grow, only to give them away to strangers!
WOW! A Raving fan...as it should be. She should be a client for life. SO, get a testimonial and use it on all your marketing. Good job.
Wonderful story and testament to your talent. In the process I am sure you made a believer out of that realtor. Great photos too Kathy!
Thanks, Diana. You're so right! Regardless of the size of the job, there's always a story that follows.
Maureen - I love those canisters and in fact have purchased two sets; one for a redesign and the other for my accessory inventory.
Cathy - Thank you!
Cindy - I hear you. I have found myself wondering, on many occasions, as to who the buyers were.
Thanks, Terrylynn and Michele.
Kathy
Love to hear these stories Kathy! those pops of red really worked in the black and white space.
Kathy: You did a wonderful job transforming this house to appeal not only to buyers, but to the listing agent as well. I am a big fan of your work and I'm glad you were able to convert another fan (the listing agent).
A great example of why home sellers should stage BEFORE getting a listing agent!
Congrats; LOVE those success stories!!!!
What a great story and a testament to your incredible talent. Sometimes it still amazes me that even realtors who see hundreds of homes each month can't see the potential hidden in a home. They should be the ones recommending Staging to their clients instead of just "giving up" on a listing. Great work!
